5 Habits to Empower Your Business for a Successful Year
5 Habits to Empower Your Business for a Successful Year
Success doesn’t come from what you do occasionally, it comes from what you do consistently. (Marie Forleo)
Welcome to 2025!
The last couple of years have made people feel like they are deserving of success and heavy bank accounts without putting in the work to achieve it. No matter how the world continues to evolve you cannot replace hard work or consistent work. Stop giving yourself excuses and start eliminating them. You are deserving of the success level determined by the work you're willing to put in to achieve it. Read that back!
Today is day 2 of 365 opportunities to grow your business for success. I don't care what you did last year or yesterday, let's talk about what you do for these next 363 days. I want you to analyze your 2024 and then charge your losses to the game. Learn from them and move on! Something many entrepreneurs forget is that success doesn't happen overnight and It doesn’t happen for those who don’t put in the work. But most importantly remember that Failure is not forever unless you don't get back up and try again.
Putting in the work goes beyond posting on social media once or twice a week or shipping out orders. You can’t just purchase an LLC, watch a few YouTube videos, read a couple of blogs, and think you're on the fast track to building a million-dollar business. Successful business owners have habits they follow consistently. Habits that help them grow and scale their businesses.
I want you to try implementing these 5 Successful Business Habits into your routine and watch how your business grows:
Dedicating time to working on their business- DAILY
Setting goals and devising a growth plan- AND WORKING IT!
Investing in their business- REGULARLY!
Listening to podcasts AND read books from other successful people- APPLY IT!
Routinely Conducting Market Research and Implementing Improvements- APPLY IT!
Dedicating time to working on their business
A lot of times I hear people say they’re not built for a 9-5, so they start businesses with the intention of working less, only to find their businesses aren’t growing. Why? Because they’re not putting in enough time or effort! You're never there! You're not putting in the time to actively grow it.
If your business hours are displayed 9 am-7 pm for your customers, then guess what? You (or someone you hire) should be available to reach during those hours. I actually closed my Metaphysical shop because I knew that I was failing myself, my business, AND my customers by advertising hours I couldn't commit to. Even if you're virtual, this still applies to you. In addition to being available to reach- you should be using at least half of those hours to work on and in your business. Until your business can operate and pay for itself it should be treated like a newborn baby. Spend your business hours productively by:
Posting and engaging on social media
Inventory checks/reorders
Processing orders
Customer Outreach
Drafting / Executing marketing campaigns (SMS, Email, Mailers, Social Media, etc.)
As a full-time entrepreneur I am not going to say every day of the week is 100% dedicated to working but I do have a very consistent morning routine. Here is an example of how I stay on top of the important tasks and work my business at minimum 6 days of the week:
Setting Goals and devising a Plan for Growth
I know this may sound a little cliche but without goals and some planning you're really not doing anything or heading nowhere. Setting goals helps give you a direction and a target to hit. Planning gives you a PAVED path to follow. Only a fool would believe they could achieve the success they crave without setting goals to accomplish and
planning how to do so. There's nothing wrong with winging it sometimes, but success doesn’t come to those who don’t set goals, make plans, and take action. Sure, winging it works occasionally, but it’s not a sustainable strategy. And like I tell my children it's important to make sure your goals are S.M.A.R.T.
What is a S.M.A.R.T. goal? A S.M.A.R.T. goal is
Specific
Measurable
Achievable
Relevant
Time-bound

Investing in their business regularly
It amazes me how many people want others to invest in their business but they don't put a dime of their own coins into improving their business. And I am not talking about covering overhead costs- that's expected. I mean investing money into tools, products, software, themselves as business owners, and automation to improve behind-the-scenes operations. Or investing in better packaging, marketing materials, marketing channels, etc.
You can't expect people to believe and invest in you when you aren't even investing in your own business. Continue to pour into your business so that what you're asking others to pour into is WORTHY of investments.
Listening to podcasts AND reading books from other successful people
This is very underrated and more important than many would think. You should set
aside time to listen to the testimonies and gems of those who have been in and
grown from the position you currently stand in. Whether you listen to podcasts in the background as you work or read a book on the toilet- I don't care. You should be listening to a variety of podcasts, and reading books. Try and find some industry-specific ones too.
The first 5 books on my reading list for 2025 are:
Routinely Conducting Market Research and Implementing Improvements
Market research never stops. I personally conduct market research almost every single day- no lie. You can never have enough valuable information about your business, your industry, your customers, the products you sell, etc. Do not confuse "Market Research" with "Marketing". Market research refers to your industry in a whole not just marketing strategies. You should always be looking for ways to improve.
I love using platforms like Reddit, Quora, Facebook, YouTube, and blogs for candid conversations with people who might not even realize they're giving valuable insights. People will talk candidly when they think they're just venting or expressing themselves and not talking directly to the source. And ME??? I read through comments absorb everything I can, and think about how I can implement the insights they are putting out. "How can I implement this to grow and dominate the market?"
The key and most important part of this one is IMPLEMENTING it. It does not matter how many hours you spend researching or how many courses you have taken they do not matter if you do not IMPLEMENT WHAT YOU LEARN!
These five habits are the building blocks for a successful business. By dedicating time to working on your business, setting and planning for clear goals, investing in your growth, learning from others, and constantly doing market research, you’ll be well on your way to creating a thriving, sustainable business in 2025. Success doesn’t come easy, but with the right habits, you can make this your best year yet!
